World Cup Betting Sites in Malaysia: 2026 Recap and 2030 Outlook

The 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico is over: Spain beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final on 19 July 2026. 20Bet is the newest of the sportsbooks on our list. They have quickly become a favourite for Malaysian players. They are based in Curacao and operate under a Curacao Licence. At the time of our last check, new customers were offered a 100% welcome bonus of up to 588 MYR, and there are several offers for existing customers. Its live betting section is a good fit for qualifiers and friendlies, which are often played at times that suit Malaysian evenings.

22BET

22Bet was established in 2017 and is owned by TechSolutions, who own a number of betting sites. They hold a Curacao licence from the Curacao Gaming Authority, and so they have customers from around 150 countries worldwide. 22Bet had wide coverage of the World Cups in Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022), and between tournaments its football section is where you will find World Cup qualifying fixtures. If you don't already have an account with them, the welcome bonus at the time of our last check was 100% up to 620 MYR.

BK8

BK8 is another excellent sportsbook launched back in 2014, and like a few others on this list, operates under a Curacao licence and their headquarters are also based in Curacao. They offer accounts to Malaysian customers and have a good welcome bonus, and have multiple existing customer offers. They have a good record for World Cup betting from previous tournaments, and they offer the Asian handicap lines that Malaysian bettors use most, which suits qualifiers involving Asian teams.

MEGAPARI

MegaPari are based in Costa Rica and is licensed by the Government of Anjouan, which means they can accept customers for countries all over the world, including Malaysia. They were founded in 2019, and for new customers, they offer a choice of welcome bonuses, including a first deposit bonus or a free bet equivalent to 15% of your deposit. They also have a number of existing customer bonuses. Tournament-specific promotions usually appear close to a major event, so check the promotions page before the 2030 qualifiers and finals rather than counting on a particular offer.

2026 was also the first World Cup with 48 teams instead of 32. The 12 groups of four were followed by a new Round of 32, and the tournament grew from 64 to 104 matches. Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan and Uzbekistan made their World Cup debuts, and Asia sent nine teams. Malaysia did not qualify: Harimau Malaya finished third in their second-round qualifying group with 10 points, one point behind Kyrgyzstan, with only the top two going through.

The final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey was a tight game. Spain had most of the ball, Argentina played the last half hour with ten men after Enzo Fernández was sent off, and Ferran Torres scored the only goal in the 106th minute. Argentina's Emiliano Martínez made 11 saves, a record for a World Cup final. England beat France to finish third. Kylian Mbappé won the Golden Boot with 10 goals, his second in a row, Rodri won the Golden Ball, and Unai Simón won the Golden Glove. The tournament produced 308 goals, an average of 2.96 per match, which is useful context if you bet on goal totals.

The first World Cup was held in 1930, and it was both hosted and won by Uruguay. They beat Argentina 4-2 in front of a crowd of 68,346 people.

Brazil remain the most successful nation with five titles (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002), and they are the only team to have played at every tournament. Only 8 nations have ever won the World Cup. Germany and Italy have four titles, Argentina three, Uruguay and France two, Spain now two, and England one.

The most popular long-term market is who will win the tournament and be crowned world champions. Outright prices for the next World Cup appear early: some international bookmakers published 2030 winner odds within days of the 2026 final. Prices this far out move a lot, and your stake is tied up for years, so keep these bets small.

The most popular market once the tournament begins will be bets on what is commonly known as the win/draw/win market, or the 1x2 market, and sometimes simply called the moneyline. Here, you just place a bet on which team you believe will win the match or whether you believe the match will be a draw.

In the 48-team format used in 2026, the first round splits the teams into 12 groups of 4. They will play each other once. The group is basically a mini league. This market allows you to bet on which team will win their group.

📊 To Qualify From the Group

In the 48-team format, the top two in each group and the eight best third-placed teams go through to the Round of 32. When you place a bet on a team in this market, you are therefore betting that the team will finish in one of those positions and make it into the next round.

🥅 Top Scorer

This market is more commonly known as the Golden Boot Award. It goes to the player who scores the most goals at the tournament. It doesn't matter how the team does overall; it's all about the player. Kylian Mbappé won it at both Qatar 2022 (8 goals) and 2026 (10 goals) for France.

⚖️ Handicap Betting

Handicap betting is another popular market, created to allow you to bet on a team to win despite having a handicap of a certain number of goals, or to bet on an underdog with the advantage of receiving a certain number of goals' head start.

🔢 Total Goals (Over/Under 2.5)

A really popular market is betting on the number of goals in a game. You are betting on whether there will be two goals or fewer (under) or three or more goals (over). The 2026 tournament averaged 2.96 goals per match. Perfect for a game where you can’t pick the winner of the match, but expect it to be a close game between two good teams that might cancel each other out. Or two teams with poor defences, so you're expecting a goal fest

An easy market to understand. You are betting on both teams to score in the game; the final result doesn't matter, you just need both teams to score. For this market, you are looking to find teams playing each other who normally both score a lot of goals, or teams which both have a poor defensive record.

🎯 Correct Score

A very tricky market to win your bet, but you will find the odds are very good and you can win big if you get it correct. For this market, you are betting on what the final score of the game will be.

⚡ First Goalscorer

Another market which has very good odds but is also very difficult to predict. For this market, you are betting on which player will be the first to score a goal in the game.

🎁 Welcome Bonuses

Welcome bonuses are typically offered to new customers when they join a sportsbook. They are most typically a bonus based on your first deposit. The next World Cup will be played in 2030 in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. To mark 100 years since the first World Cup, Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will each host one match, with the centenary celebration at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo. FIFA is still planning for 48 teams and 104 matches. A one-off expansion to 64 teams has been proposed and FIFA has studied it, but at the time of writing it has not been approved. Here is what you can already bet on, and what is still to come.

2030 qualifying in Asia and the path for Harimau Malaya

Asian qualifying runs through the AFC. Asia had 8 direct places plus one intercontinental play-off place for 2026, and the same number is expected for 2030. The AFC has said the format will be similar to the 2026 cycle: a knockout first round for the lowest-ranked teams, a second round of nine groups of four, and then further group stages. The exact format and dates will be set after the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, and qualifying is expected to start in the second half of 2027. At the time of writing, the AFC has not confirmed the dates or the draw.

For 2026, Malaysia went straight into the second round and missed the third round by one point. For 2030, the second-round group draw is the first thing to watch: it decides whether Harimau Malaya face one heavy favourite or two. Once the fixtures are published, bookmakers price each match in the usual 1X2, Asian handicap and over/under markets. Some also offer qualification specials, such as which teams will qualify from Asia, but these are less common and the prices are less competitive.

2030 outright markets you can bet on now

Outright odds on the 2030 winner were published by several international bookmakers in July 2026, straight after the final. In those early prices Spain, the champions and co-hosts, were favourites, ahead of France, with England, Portugal, Brazil, Argentina and Germany next. Not every bookmaker on our list shows a 2030 winner market yet; if you cannot find one in the outrights section, it will usually open closer to the tournament. Markets such as the Golden Boot, group winners and to-qualify bets only open once the qualifiers are under way or the groups have been drawn.

How our 2026 picks did

• Winner: we picked Spain and Argentina. They met in the final, and Spain won 1-0 after extra time.
• Golden Boot: we named Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé. Mbappé won it with 10 goals.
• Golden Glove: we named David Raya and Alisson Becker. This one we got wrong: Spain started Unai Simón in goal, and he won the award.

Two out of three is a reminder that even well-researched long-term picks are uncertain. Treat any outright bet on 2030 as a small, long-term stake, not as a sure thing.
